fortiss is the research institute of the Free State of Bavaria for the development of software-intensive systems with headquarters in Munich. The scientists at the institute cooperate in research, development and transfer projects with universities and technology companies in Bavaria, Germany and Europe. In the Neuromorphic Computing department, we search for a talented

Researcher Neuromorphic Computing (m/w/d)

Your tasks:

  • In the frame of the EU flagship Human Brain Project (HBP) and the Intel Neuromorphic Research Community (INRC),  become the lead researcher in neuromorphic computing applications in robotics, computer vision, arts and energy management systems

  • Implement your research on the Loihi neuromorphic chip, state-of-the-art event-based cameras, hardware robots

  • Be an active part of HBP and INRC and participate in workshops, present your work, write publications, extend our scientific network

  • Assist the department lead in preparing innovative project proposals in further application domains, such as IoT, space, autonomous driving in national and international consortia

Your profile:

  • PhD degree in artificial intelligence, machine learning, neuromorphic computing, robotics, computer vision or a similar topic

  • Strong hands-on skills in Deep Learning, especially in visual and industrial applications

  • Ability to read and implement machine learning related math

  • Fluency in software development with Python and/or Javascript, C++

  • A passion for applied science, technology and product development

  • Strong inter-personal skills, positive thinking and team player mindset
