Our Team

To further strengthen our ASCI team on combined software and energy topics, we are looking for motivated researchers (early stage), with excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.

The ASCI competence center of fortiss conducts applied research on smart energy systems. We develop and analyse methods to create software architectures for distributed infrastructures. In doing so, we increasingly apply AI methods for physical modeling of appliances and systems to simulate complex scenarios. The goal is to contribute to interoperability, modularization, and decentralization of the energy infrastructure while taking efficiency and sustainability into account.
n an upcoming project we are looking into the generation of synthetic data to fill gaps in existing data sources. For example, aerial photographs can be used to identify and dimension photovoltaic installations. The data identified in this way can be linked to corresponding planning and simulation tools. Appropriate data infrastructures need to be developed for management and processing.

Your tasks:

  • Conduct pioneering and applied research in the ASCI competence center in the areas of architecture design and software development, interoperability, AI-based modelling
  • Development and evaluation of (own) research approaches in the area of synthetic data generation and validation
  • Support ongoing national and international research projects regarding software development, scientific dissemination, and technology transfer
  • Support the development of advanced training activities, e.g., webinars, seminars, workshops, lab demonstrations
  • Participate in the supervision of student researchers
  • Acquisition of industrial projects

Your Profil:

  • Very good M.Sc. in computer science with a specialization in data-driven modelling, software architectures and/or the motivation and ability to quickly acquire required skills.
  • Strong background in software engineering, data engineering and architecture design.
  • Interest in mentoring student researchers.
  • Good communication skills in English, and a basic knowlegde of the German language that enables participation in German project meetings.
