Who are we?
fortiss is the research institute of the Free State of Bavaria for software-intensive systems and services, based in Munich. The institute currently employs around 130 people who work on research, development and transfer projects with universities, scientific institutions and technology companies in Bavaria, Germany and Europe. They research and develop methods, techniques and tools for reliable, secure and comprehensible software solutions and artificial intelligence applications. To further strengthen our ASCI team on combined software and energy topics, we are looking for:
The ASCI competence center of fortiss conducts applied research on smart energy systems. We develop and analyse methods to create software architectures for distributed infrastructures. In doing so, we increasingly apply AI methods for physical modeling of appliances and systems to simulate complex scenarios. The goal is to contribute to interoperability, modularization, and decentralization of the energy infrastructure while taking efficiency and sustainability into account.
We are looking for motivated researchers (early stage or advanced) to join our team.
WISSENSCHAFTLER/ RESEARCHER (M/F/D)

WISSENSCHAFTLER/ RESEARCHER (M/F/D)
Your tasks:
- Conduct pioneering and applied research in the ASCI competence center in the areas of architecture design, interoperability, energy system engineering, AI-based modelling, agent-based simulation
- Development and evaluation of research approaches
- Support ongoing national and international research projects regarding software development, scientific dissemination, and technology transfer
- Support the development of advanced training activities, e.g., webinars, seminars, workshops
- Participate in the supervision of student researchers
- Acquisition of industrial projects
Your profile:
- Outstanding M.Sc./Ph.D. in computer science with a specialization in software architectures and system modelling, or the motivation and ability to quickly acquire required skills.
- Strong background in one or multiple of the areas of interest.
- Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in mentoring student researchers.
- Excellent communication skills in English, and a basic grasp of the German language that enables participation in German project meetings.
